What are the Baggage limits on international flights with a connecting flight.?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under international flight | 3 Comments »

I know the baggage limits for domestic and international flights. But my question is If I book an international flight and the itinerary contains a connecting flight then will the baggage rules of domestic flight (within USA) will apply or international rules.

Almost all airlines will allow the higher international allowance when you have a domestic connecting flight. Check with your airline of airline’s website to be sure.

What airlines allow pets in the cabin on international flights?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under international flights | 3 Comments »

I’m trying to find out which airlines allow pets in the cabin on international flights – specifically from Canada to Costa Rica or US to Costa Rica. Not interested in checking as baggage or cargo – IN THE CABIN! Thanks

Cabin pets are allowed by all airlines on international flights, but there are several rules that you have to take into considerations.

First, cabin pets should not weigh more than 10 kilos or 22 pounds, including the carrier. If the pet and the carrier weigh 10 kilos or more, then you should check them in and they are considered as Animal In Hold (AVIH). I’m sure you don’t want that.

Second, airlines limit only 2 pets (only 1 for other airlines) per passenger and the total number of pets in a flight may be limited by the airline (like 10 for some).

Third, if you’re bringing 2 pets, they should be "housed" in 2 different carriers. Under no circumstance would pets be allowed on board, whether in the cabin or in the cargo hold, if they occupy the same carrier.

Fourth, the carrier should be leak-proof, such as a kennel or a pet bag.

Fifth, the pet should not be fed at least an hour before departure. You can certainly give water, but food is a no-no.

Sixth, you should carry with you a health certificate from your vet stating the dates and type of inoculations given to your pet. That certificate will also be inspected by the quarantine officials of Costa Rica.

And seventh, you should be ready to pay for excess baggage as pets are not considered as part of your free baggage allowance, whether checked-in baggage or carry-on baggage. Call your airline for the prevailing rates.

Happy trip!

Where’s a good place to meet at the Denver International Airport?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under denver international airport | 2 Comments »

I am meeting friends, all flying on different domestic airlines (Northwest, United, Alaska)–and all getting in at different times. Where is a good place to meet that is also good for hanging out for an hour or so while waiting? Any good bars? restaurants that are centrally located?

I think the Red Rocks Bar or the Cantina Grill are about the only non-fast-food places in the Terminal area that are respectable for meeting people.

Otherwise, you’ll find a Rock Bottom Brewery on Concourse C but it’s at the end of the airport and not really convenient.

NATIONAL SEEDS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

NATIONAL SEEDS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER
(A CASE STUDY IN MAKE/BUY DECISION):

In early January, 1979, NSRDC was organizing an international symposium on the hybrid of a cereal- a subject of considerable topical interest. About 500 delegates from all over India and some other tropical countries were to take part in scientific deliberations spread over six sessions for three days. In fact, NSRDC was hosting this and was able to draw many experts in the related fields of research to reach some consensus of opinion and conclusion over divergent views supported by experience and findings in different countries at different times.

In this connection, the organization required 500 cozy cushioned chairs with extended arms- support fitted with folder retainer platforms and covered trays for cigarette ashes, especially designed for the purpose. The funds were available, but time was too shot for manufacturing and ordering.

The organization had a medium –size carpentry workshop equipped with modern gadgets and other facilities. But the skilled hands to complete the job in time were considered insufficient. The extra labour bills for overtime payments were calculated and considered to be higher than the vendor’s extra charges for this rush order.

Two competent suppliers specializing in the furniture and furnishing trade came with identical offers of Rs. 300 per chair, but added an extra cost of Rs. 50 per chair for this emergency purchase. Both of them, however, pre-conditioned their quotations with a price escalation clause and subjected supplies to the availability of power.

The grandiose symposium hall was contracted to a well-known firm of interior decorators and lighting and other arrangements were similarly contracted to be completed before a target date.
At the date of the symposium drew nearer, the materials manager of NSRDC was one day summoned by the chief scientific officer of NSRDC. Dr. P N Dhar to his office, who was playing the key role of a coordinator of this scientific symposium. Between them, conversation followed as below:

Dr. Dhar: “Welcome, Mr. Jagamohan, to my office. You must have guessed how anxious I am to now about the details of the completion of all jobs necessary for the symposium. I think, you appreciate that we can’t take any chance about anything. Give all of them a hot chase, if any job is not ready for completion before the target date.”

Mr. Jagamohan: “Yes, Sir, that’s all too right. But I am in hot soup with 500 chairs. The suppliers are charging us too high prices for this rush job and our carpentry shop is incapable to assume responsibility even with over time due to shortages of skilled labour. And the time is too shortly”.

Mr. Dhar:” Make sure that there is no failure, either you buy from outside or make them in our workshop, but remember, the deadline is fixed. And above all you must assure me of your prompt decision and action in the matter.”
Mr. Jagamohan: “I can very well understand your point. I must anyway shoot this trouble out and actually don’t allow time to slip off my hands Rest assured that thee will be ready before the date “.

Thus, assuring the chief scientific officer of ND\SRDC, Mr. Jagamohan left the chief’s office, but was in a fix to make a firm decision.

Question
1.Suppose you are the material manager of NSRDC, would you prefer to make these specially designed cushioned chairs and take the risk (since they are not readily available in the market) of making these in your own carpentry workshop or buy from outside manufacturers on order. Consider the time element in this case as most important and costing of manufacturing and ordering identical for all practical purposes. Also consider whether you will take a decision for making them partly in workshop and buy partly from either from one or both suppliers, ordering cost being the same, in light of the assurances given to the chief scientific officer of NSRDC by Mr. Jagamohan.

Do your own homework.

Is the International Academy of Design and Technology of Tampa good for graphic design? max?!?

Is the International Academy of Design and Technology of Tampa good for graphic design?

I would like to attend the Graphic Design Courses for becoming a web designer. If not Tampa…what is the best location with the IADT?

max to the best answer!!

The IADT brand is reasonably well respected. The curricula at their different locations is not tailored heavily to local needs, but is sort of the result of a cookie-cutter approach.

The differentiator between locations will be the faculty, their professional activities, and placement rates (into really good jobs)

I looked at several of their schools not too long ago. The Toronto location was sold recently.

How may the globally experiencing cisis in the credit market affect international atm transactions.?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under may international | 2 Comments »

Most internationally accepted, bank or credit union debit cards that are backed by cash in accounts have a credit card logo on them. for me i keep seeing a charge going to a credit company when i make a get money from a non USA atm. Please give me your ideas, theories as how this aspect of our financial world may play out in the 30 to 60 day short term. I am confident that the system will be back someday.

Thanks to all in advance.

It should NOT affect anything, except the exchange rate…

ATM use involves pulling cash or credit you already have, not applying for new credit…

I need to confirm an international conference in austin texas fro 5-15october 2006on violence in youth?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under international conference | 1 Comment »

It is sponsored by the continental foundation affairs relief in usa and there is a follow on conference in senegal . We have to forward 400 euro upfront to pay for the accomodation in senegal but the rest is paid for . I am concerned that this may be a scam as I cannot find the conference listed anywhere and you have to forward the money first before you are registered.

this is in nov.
