As a citizen i want to marry to an international student who has been here for 2 years. Can all the paper work be done in the U.S or back in her country. Is there any new laws that i have to pay close attention to. what kind of trouble that i have to go through so i can prepare.
Dead simple.
Getting married to an immigrant/international student is no different than marrying an American citizen. Each state/county has it’s own requirements as for what is needed to get a marriage license. So first call, the register of deeds where you live.
Once you are married, all you need to do is file the papers to adjust her status. Again dead simple. If you have a decent grasp of the English language, then you are more than capable of doing this on your own.
Part of this process is biometrics. Which is taking her finger prints, photo, height and weight..etc.
You will also have an interview. The officer may interview the 2 of you together..and most more than likely will if they believe your marriage is real. If they suspect it is a fraud marriage, then they can and usually do separate the 2 of you to conduct the interview.
You will need proof of your relationship together, like phone records, emails, letters, photo’s etc. It is not necessary to have joint bills and bank accounts at this phase as the 2 of you just got married and may not have established this link yet. It is in 2 yrs time when you file to have the conditions removed from her green card (the condition is she is getting her green card because she married a US citizen..after 2 yrs if you are still married, they will remove this condition and her keeping her green card is no longer contingent on being married to a US citizen) you will need to show joint bank accounts, bills, insurance etc. But not at the beginning.
She can stay in the US for the entire process of adjusting her status. She does NOT have to go home to do this.
It will cost less then $2,000 to adjust her status. It will depend on how backed up they are at the time you do the paperwork, but a realistic time frame for the whole process is 5-8 months..give or take.
No new laws that I am aware of that would effect the 2 of you and this process.
Good luck
Donna
Oh one more thing I meant to add. If you do not qualify financially to sponsor her (affidavit of support) then you can have a co sponsor. As long as they meet the income guidelines. They do not have to be a relative. Anyone can do it.
I am from India and have been accepted into The University of Virginia at Charlottesville. I have researched the university very well and know that its amazing. I like the fact that it is near to DC, a city i love. i know its like the best public uni after Berkeley but just wanted a few people to answer from personal experience

Call in sick.
I am an Australian and still in high school (year 10) in Australia.
I want to go to either America or England for university as their are a number of schools over there that I am interested in. I am not a citizen of either country so I would apply as an international student. Does anyone know how expensive this is? Any tips from people who have done this themselves?
can you please give me an estimate of how much it is, thanks.
Also, if some international students could let me know that would be great!
Hi Louise,
International students with the exception of medicine pay in 2009 / 10 around £9,000 and I have international student paying much more for medicine. The £9,000 does not include money for living, does not include textbooks, does not include fees, and it does not include the money the Home Office requires for you to show that you have to support yourself. A conservative estimate for a year of study in the UK based on general trends you should have at least £22,500 available to you for one year of study in the UK as an international student.
In regard to the US the cost is very much dependent on the school you are attending and where it is located. A rough estimate for you to study in the US would be $30,000 – $45,000 (USD) per year. Plus I would recommend considering more money due to the fact health care in America is prohibitively expensive and even with insurance it is still expensive. I would recommend a higher figure if you will be studying in New York or California. If you were to ask a generic figure to cover all situations including paying for health care I would recommend a figure in the range of $50,000 – $75,000 (USD ./ per year).
For both cases you will need to secure most of the funding yourself as you will most likely to get no funding from the government in each country. This means you will have find it in Australia and once you have secured your funding then you will have to make the applications. From there you will have to apply for the appropriate visa. For the UK you will need to make the application soon or may not have enough time to get the appropriate visa. In the United States I am not sure and it may be too late to start the process.
My feeling the biggest challenge for you will be adjusting to the different style of education and being so far from home. Living in another country is not an easy adjustment and it take some time to adjust. If you study in another country you will have to remember to adhere to your visa requirements, maintain acceptable attendance, and make sure you are passing your classes. Should you fail to do the above you may find that your visa is revoked and you are removed from the country. This means for you your purpose in the country is to study, not to work and to abide by the laws of the country including your visa conditions. Whereas any friends that you make who are citizens will have a bit more liberty to do things than you and this will require you to be assertive to ensure you are not risking your visa.
Yes, you’ll need your passport, and a visa to enter Canada.
What Age Do You Have To Be To Go To The International Cannabis & Hemp Expo 2010? Here Is The Website Just Cant Find Any Answer To My Question. http://www.intche.org/index.html
Having just quickly glanced at the website I can’t find any reference to age limits, so as You may not be consuming it in public, MAYBE age is irrelevant.
Sounds like a sound convention, in principle
BUT it still does not discount or lessen the threat from mental health issues
& I do hope they will be exposing the negatives of cannabis along with the supposed benefits!
Or that would be far too bias.
It’s still a drug & from what I can tell, still very misunderstood.
Now I’m in a university named Northwood, I guess it’s not famous, but I want to go to a better university. I got high marks. By the way, I’m Chinese.
frankly speaking, i want more for reputation, because Chinese companies don’t recognize many foreign schools, they just know some famous ones…thanks…
i mean i want to go back for work…
can i have part-time job as an international student?
Well, first, ask yourself why you want to go to a better university. Is it because of reputation? Is it because of your academic interests? Is it because you’re not happy with the area in which your college is? These answers will help inform what you do and which schools you look at. Transferring isn’t really a very hard thing to do at most universities, so as long as your GPA is decent, you shouldn’t have too many problems. Most universities (I don’t know of any that don’t) have an office to help international students. Contact this office at the school you want to go to and see what steps you need to take as an international student. Do you have friends who are international students at other colleges? If so, ask them what they think, and for any advice about it they might have.
Good luck.
Added later: I don’t really know about working if you’re on a student visa. That would definitely be a question for your International Students’ Office. From what I understand, you can work on campus for up to 20 hours, but you should check that out with them. It’s ok if you want to go to a school with a better reputation, just look around for one. Try finding one with more Chinese students, because the odds are that they are going there for the same reasons that you want to go there. Most schools, at least most public schools, aren’t that difficult to transfer into, so you’ve just got to find out the requirements for the schools you’re interested in. Also, don’t pin your hopes on just one school. Get information from a lot of schools and then apply to at least 4 or 5.
Im trying to get a 30+ on my ACT and i will have the german equivalent to a highschool diploma (2012).

The schools I m interest right now are: Buffalo State, Buffalo University,New Paltz, Plattsburgh. If there is any other college that its better please feel free to tell me and reasons why.
I m interest in diversity, Campus life, good academics, good programs for transfer students, If there is fun stuff to do around, how big is the college.. any other thing please feel free to tell me. Its really important to me because I m applying for this year.
Well as a Plattsburgh State alumni I am obvious going to tell you to head to P-burgh! Plattsburgh is full of diversity and has a large amount of diversity programs and activities with students from all over the world. While Plattsburgh is a small city there is a lot to do. There are Always Friday and Saturday night activities on campus that are free as well as activities downtown as well. You will also be just a ferry ride to Vermont, which has great things to do on the weekend. You will also be about 45 minutes to an hour from Lake Placid (home of the 1980 Olympics) as well as a 2 hour drive from the state capital. The academic programs at Plattsburgh, like all state schools are challenging with supportive faculty in small classes. I transferred there myself and I was welcomed from the first day and had many opportunities to get adjusted. If you like sports, there are many teams as well as intramural teams, open gym times, swimming and clubs. Hockey is huge in p-burgh and the annual Oswego vs Plattsburgh game is a blast. If you have any other questions feel free to email me at mel_guard05@msn.com
Good luck and go Cards!
