Do you have to check in again if transfering from a domestic to international flight?

I am flying from Seattle to Newark to San Jose, Costa Rica. I was wondering what I must do in the Newark airport in order to get to my international flight? Will I have to check in again?

Gerald J has it right. When you get to the airport in Seattle ask at check in whether your bags will go straight through to Costa Rica. The check in person will know by the codes on the baggage labels.

It depends. If both your flights are on the same airline, partner airline or airlines that have an inter-airline agreement you should be able to receive both boarding passes and check your luggage all the way through to Costa Rica when you first check-in in Seattle. Since you didn’t say what airlines you’re flying with, who knows?

Continental, huh? You should get both boarding passes in Seattle. Just get off the plane in Newark and find your connecting gate
