This was going to be my next question and Captainobvious stated it so well in an answer to my last question I just used his answer here. So, in thanks, follow the link to the last question and give him a thumbs up as his will be best answer.

Iran has spent the last two years demanding unconditional, direct talks between themselves and the US before negotiating on their pursuit of nuclear power/weapons. Now that the US has elected a President who agreed to those terms, Tehran has changed its mind. Now they claim that the differences between the two nations are too great for unconditional talks:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…
Since 2006, Iran’s leaders have called for direct, unconditional talks with the United States to resolve international concerns over their nuclear program. But as an American administration open to such negotiations prepares to take power, Iran’s political and military leaders are sounding suddenly wary of President-elect Barack Obama.
“People who put on a mask of friendship, but with the objective of betrayal, and who enter from the angle of negotiations without preconditions, are more dangerous,” Hossein Taeb, deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Wednesday, according to the semiofficial Mehr News Agency.
“The power holders in the new American government are trying to regain their lost influence with a tactical change in their foreign diplomacy. They are shifting from a hard conflict to a soft attack,” Taeb said.
For Iran’s leaders, the only state of affairs worse than poor relations with the United States may be improved relations. The Shiite Muslim clerics who rule the country came to power after ousting Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, a U.S.-backed autocrat, in their 1979 Islamic revolution. Opposition to the United States, long vilified as the “great Satan” here in Friday sermons, remains one of the main pillars of Iranian politics.
Thus dies another Bush Derangement Syndrome fallacy. Critics of the current administration here and abroad blamed Bush for not having normal relations with the Iranians. In truth, the Europeans didn’t — and don’t — want the US to have direct negotiations with the Iranians yet, because it would reduce the leverage they have on Iran as trading partners. The Iranians never wanted direct talks; they hate the US and Israel and aren’t interested in being buddies.
This is the point that Obama and his allies never seem to understand. Some people just hate us, and not because of our policies on trade and security. Iran is a nation run by radical Islamist mullahs who see secular democracy as the enemy of their religion, and Western values as a temporary heresy which they plan to correct with a global caliphate under Iranian control.
Irans’ mullahs see America as the bastion of these values, and Israel as our outpost for them in the region. Europe is mostly irrelevant to them; they can deal with Europe after eliminating the arsenal of democracy, or hobbling it so badly that we no longer make a difference. That’s why Mahmoud Ahmadinejad holds symposiums on a world without the US and Israel.
No Time… yep… I typed it a little too fast and didn’t proof read. I have one of those things called a job. I did however enjoy your well thought out defense of Obama and his naive decissions. It was just riveting!
N. Cognito,
Yes, the US is the cause of all the worlds ills. The world was such a peaceful state of bliss prior to America’s Birth. Shame on us. Their hatred for all non-muslims and their religious belief that all non-believers should be slain has nothing to do with it at all. Perhaps it is you that should dig a little deeper into history and realize this religious based hate came long before the US. Just be thankful a country like the US will oppose their murderous agenda. So go peddle your compassion for radical islam elsewhere.
Jake…. your intelligent response really hurt my feelings.
N. Cognito,
Well written! You should be an Obama speech writer or something. And don’t worry about me. Leave it to peolpe like us to protect and take a stand for what is right. It’s not a popularity contest. Unfortunately, for people like you who think we bombed our own towers and that "Man Made Global Warming" really exists, your opinions soon fall by the wayside as your theories are never proved or come to light. You are right though. History will show the truth and George Bush will go down as a very good President.
Booby,
Peace does not come about with appeasement. Take Canada for instance. There is a reason they have such a limited military, they are our allies and they are right next to the guy with the big stick. They enjoy peace due to our presence. Not saying they are less than us as people or anything, but they don’t exactly step up as we do. There are in fact evil people in the world. No matter how much you want to be their friend. Name one little runt kid that ever provoked the bully at school… yet, the bully picks because it is in his nature.
HOW PITIFUL AND PATHETIC IT IS THAT YOU LIBS REPORTED CAPTIANOBVIOUS’S ANSWER.
I’m so glad you mentioned Bush Derangement Syndrome because I have read the nuttiest things from Bush haters; nutty, because there is absolutely no possible instance in which (in their minds) Bush could ever have done something right.
I remember when Bush prevailed over North Korea, and Kim Jung Il finally renounced nukes. Not one Libby credited Bush. I patiently pointed out that Bush was vindicated. He insisted that bilateral talks was simply playing into the North Koreans’ hands and Bush, of course, was completely right. But you couldn’t get one Libby to admit the obvious. Besides pathetic, it shows something about their character and possibly even that Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.
Obama appeared shaken after his security briefing last week. He was even stuttering afterwards. I’ll bet that smug Jr. Senator of dubious birthplace got a rude awakening.

That’s an awful lot of B.S. in one place, so I’ll just make a single observation. Pahlavi was installed in Operation Ajax in 1953 after the U.S. government crushed Iran’s budding democracy, and he brutalized the Iranian people for a quarter century before they deposed him and formed their republic. In response, the U.S. government fomented war between Iraq and Iran and supported Iraq, leaving two million dead after three years. That sort of thing doesn’t sit well with anyone, and your implication that history began in 1979 shows as much ignorance as CaptainObvious consistently displays.
*EDIT*
Clearly, the blinders cannot be forcefully removed from a person who chooses to wear them. Carry on peddling your false nationalism based in ignorance, fear and denial. It DOES work, after all; as anyone who paid attention during the past eight years knows. Unfortunately for people like you, CaptainObvious, George Bush, and Adolph Hitler the truth eventually arrives to expose you, like a bird of prey swooping down to rip the filthy reeking entrails from a scurrilous sewer rat and leaving it to shriek impotently in rage and shake it’s puny fists at the person pointing it out, as if they were somehow responsible for the fact that the world refuses to conform to your wishes, or even the way you perceive it.
Here’s some free (and quality!) advice for you; jingoism, fear, and hate are no longer enjoying the popularity they had only a few short years ago, which is why the American voters turned down the opportunity to continue Mr. Bush’s agendas.
You might try to keep up.
*ANOTHER EDIT*
The fact that you see enemies everywhere you look and think that anyone who disagrees with you is a liberal says a lot – about you, not everyone else.
You haven’t got a clue. In that, you’re a lot like your hero CaptainObvious.

First, I want to define preconditions. That means that I meet with you to make you do what I say do.
Negotiations are when we meet to peacefully agree to co-exist and oh, by the way, do something about the planet we all inhabit.
You sound a bit naive and uninformed to me.

It is the BUSH administration that is now SUCKING UP to the Taliban under the pretext of catching Bin Laden.
The real fact is that it is all about another pipeline.
Ahmadinejad is a hack figurehead, and doesn’t really factor into the equation.
The Bush administration has REFUSED to do what is necessary to get Iran under control. Israel AND Europe have been trying to get us to join a meaningful trade embargo against Iran.
We could cripple Iran’s economy by placing an embargo on oil extraction technology. But that would of course hurt Haliburton’s bottom line.
Iran is only a danger as long as it doesn’t cost Bush’s buddies money.

Obama has achieved his goal of being the first black president of the United States, but if he is to become a great president, he must get busy keeping promises and solving problems; his list is long. If Obama is successful in resolving our present prevailing problems, the United States will be nearly free of problems; however, there is really nothing special about Mr. Obama, except his race and that is meaningless now that he is elected. There are many others in America that could do better at the tasks before the President Elect than he, but, for reasons of their own, they have chosen not to seek the White House.
We all will have to wait and see whether President Elect Obama will be a great president or just a flash in the pan.

Yes, Obama is inexperienced and naive in international politics. I would like to see him meet with Putin. Little Vladimir will kick his but! Iran is in trouble thanks to the decline in oil prices, but they still support terrorism and they continue to be our enemy.

You seem a little naive here. I know you’re a deeper thinker than this. Peace is a good thing, and if you ask me Obama has a much greater chance of achieving it than any other politician, especially a party controlled by lobbyists and special interest groups aka defense contractors.
It’s time to stop attacking our politicians Democrats or Republicans, to support our leaders and work together to create a great country. United we stand, divided we fall. It’s just common sense, work together and we can do anything, stay divided and we die. Look at the Roman Republic for a history lesson. Lets start being Americans, not Democrats or Republicans.
