Lest we think that APA officers justify their neglect of medical consequences of homosexuality on the basis that sexual orientation cannot be changed, we note that Robert Spitzer acknowledged in his original 1973 position paper on Nomenclature that "modern methods of treatment enable a significant proportion of homosexuals who wish to change their sexual orientation to do so." The documentary, I Do Exist, is not an attack on gays. Rather, it is aimed at those who are gay but wish to change. Guess what? For every person who claims they’ve been "cured" of being gay there are dozens who say such cures are a scam. Brain washing isn’t a "cure".

i cba to read all that now, but i think the gay gene is partly right, it is true that humans can have a genes to shape their personallity that will contribute to them becoming gay.
Being gay isnt a disease its a very weird lifestyle choice

I don’t know what causes people to be gay. I don’t pretend to. Wouldn’t rule anything out. It could be a disorder, it could be caused by environment in childhood, it might have something to do with parenting in the early stages. It might be a hormone problem during pregnancy, etc.
Something tells me it’s not a gene because it would have been bread out of the species years ago.

Because… In SOME cases homosexuality is a choice… and therefore "curable." AND in other cases, it is a result of hormonal abnormalities during pregnancy.

There is nothing to cure, and the bulk of those with degrees on the subject agree.
I’m certain there are homosexuals who have been brow beaten into thinking they’re straight. Needless to say the same could probably be done to heterosexuals if you told them their feelings and desire were immoral and evil.

While it may be a future possibility to be able to change orientation, from what I’ve read most ex-gay therapies seem not very plausible, and there is numerous detractors from the ex-gay therapies ( 2nd and 3rd links I provided in source ).
