In modern time, have women contributed as equally as Men in Scientific and Tecnical fields as Feminists claims?

As this statement from a Yahoo’s Gender & WS feminist member:

"….How many men and women right now are working in science to cure us and how many together created our technology, all creeds, races and both genders. Cass if it was one guys sitting in a room making all this happen then wouldn’t he be getting some kind of prize..? Come on. Women contribute just as much as men do in these area’s the fact that you’re blind-sighted it is because you are bias, the rest of the world is not."

Let’s examine a case study in Japan:

Excerpt:
"…Males strongly predominate among scientists and engineers, accounting for 93 percent of all S/E.."
"…males comprise 93 percent of all Japanese scientists and engineers…"
http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/ebaut96b.html

- Among survey respondents, the proportion of women remains at or below 10% across all scientific disciplines in Japan, with the exception of the Life Sciences and Biology, where women make up almost 30% of the scientists. The lowest representation (below 5%) is found in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering.

And in the UK:
"..Currently 85% of the full time science, engineering and technology workforce are male."

In the US:
"….only 28 percent of computer systems analysts are women, and just 31 percent of computer programmers are women. A mere 8 percent of engineers are women. And overall in private industry, only 18 percent of technologists are women."

@Cassius put it eloquently.

Men typically use the right side of their brain so they’re more likely to advance in Math and Science. From what I’ve gathered throughout my personal life; women don’t create much. Using houses as an example.. They TYPICALLY don’t design the house, they don’t lay out the blueprints, they don’t physically build it, & they don’t install all the features necessary for human inhabitants. They just don’t make things the same way a man does. Statistics prove this, and even though feminists try to deny it women are behind men in more fields than just Math and Science. Feminists would have you believe they’re being held back but in reality they don’t want to break from their traditional gender roles because it makes life easy. Any woman can get married and be a "home maker" but it requires more effort to actually make the home. The "glass ceiling" or comfort in the familiar?
This old tradition of let the man do the work while I take care of the kids and "make a home" really hasn’t changed much from the 50’s.

I don’t know about "equally" but many don’t realize that the revolution in psychoneuropharmacology that led to the development of SSRIs and other antidepressants and to a new understanding of addiction processes and the relationship between emotions and the body owes in no small part to research done by a woman.

While some women are good at being men and some men are good at being women, most men still lead a masculine way of life and most women are still pretty much female. That means everything you use to communicate on the internet is far more likely to have been designed by men whom in turn are far more likely to have been taken care of by a woman.

The big fallacy of feminism is that they look at case by case cases when it is convenient to them and look at percentages based on large populations when it is convenient to them. Usually they do the former to point out how great women are (nobody denies there are not able women) and the latter to scream bloody sexism.

Sad to say, women have not contributed as much to the arts or sciences despite the opportunities given. Perhaps it’s because many women get sidetracked too easily like arguing about whether the toilet seat should be left up or put down.

Soooooo tired of the competition, the keeping score. It’s so useless and, ultimately, tragic. What’s becoming apparent is that those of us who are insane are yanking the strings of those who aren’t….or who aren’t yet.

Given the fact that within 10 seconds of an Andean earthquake the planet shifted its axis to measurably shorten each day, the rest of this stuff is like the nutcase antics reminiscent of the fools in Gulliver’s Travels.

Surely scientific cures are a team effort? As for there not being many female scientists it’s probably the same reason that there are very few fighter pilots, it doesn’t appeal to them and they choose not to do it as a career. If a female complains that they are being blocked from doing it, now there’s another matter.

i agree that men dominant these fields because men are more interest in discovering things and knowing how things work, women on the other hand they are not bad at science they are just not interested because they just want to do different things, but also getting beck to the feminist statement that said that both men and women contribute equally in science we all know its a lie,and what do you expect have you ever met a feminist that told the truth, all these feminist will always try to down play men’s achievements anytime men dominate something and they will glorify something and practically rub it in the faces of men anytime a woman achieves something
