so is would this contribute as an extra-curricular activity for me??
and would this help to improve my existing extra curricular activities?
thanks for your time
Colleges look at extracurriculars in different ways. They look to see if you were merely a "joiner" or if you were a leader. You do not need to be an officer, but being an officer is sometimes a "free pass". You need to accomplish something in the activity. Either show that you met a personal goal through the activity, or that you contributed ideas and planning to meet a group goal. It is not enough to wave the mission statement of the organization.
Having said this, this group appears to offer opportunity for you to show what you can do. Enjoy!
I am thinking about going into international relations in college, hopefully to then go into international politics, working for the U.N. or U.S. State Dept.
Does anyone know which schools have the overall best international relations programs?
Thanks!
Georgetown and George Washington both have excellent international studies programs and because of their location, you can intern for the goverment.
Princeton has the Woodrow Wilson school, which is outstanding.
Columbia has a great international studies program and any college in NYC means you can at least apply to intern at the UN.
Bear in mind that all jobs at the UN and many jobs with the State Dept. require that you FLUENTLY speak AT LEAST two languages. If you want to work for groups like these, I would suggest at least minoring in a foreign language.
Do we get the coverage we deserve?
Don’t know where you’re writing from, but from my vantage point in the US we get very little news at all. Our two current wars are mute testimony to how that ignorance of real events affects politics. Vietnam was finally halted because the news actually reported how many soldiers were dying and read their names on TV. We haven’t even felt the financial pinch of these wars because they’re both being waged on credit.
Hi all,
I am flying on Delta from LAX to Minneapolis, then catching another flight to Paris. Will I need to pick up my luggage between flights? I know you don’t have to for domestic flights, but I don’t know about international.
Thanks!
The general rule is that you have to pick up your bags any place where you have to clear customs.
Since a US to US to France flight only has you clearing customs once you get to Paris, your bags will be checked through. If you were doing something else like LAX to Montreal (Canada) to Paris then you’d have to grab your luggage at each step.
Why did’nt they go to London, Berlin, Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Munich, Rome, Madrid, Kiev, etc. the market is giant in Europe, They would do much more money then in Nashville, Phoenix, Florida, L-A, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, San Jose, Columbus, St Louis. Hockey would be much more popular, more competitive, and a much richer game. dont tell me it would be hard for teams to trip around europe, asia and america, it would be to exhausting, all you have to do is make it Inter-Continental, and face other continents rarely, like east vs west. I just dont understand NHL’s closed mind, thats why its not popular…
This is not the answer you want but I am putting in my 2 cents anyway.
Time and cost associated with such intense travel. (which I know about having travelled extensively = 18 countries, as well as 7 provinces and 30 states in the US as well as most of Mexico) through the years .. )
I am in favour of a European-based league/division though, and I think we have already discussed this topic previously. But in case you didn’t see my reply, I nominated cities such as Stockholm, Turku, Helsinki, Moscow, Kiev, Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Prague, Bratislava, Paris, London, Rome and Milan.
There might be cities on other continents that could afford to have a team but are there enough to have a seperate division? Not likely.
preferably Colorado Avalanche ones?
i’m flying through denver in a few months and i’m a huge avalanche fan, and i know at the detroit airport you can find Red Wings hoodies/merch, so i was just wondering if they did the same thing in denver.
dang, there’s 6 places that sell sweatshirts and one sports-specific shop. i guess i could have gone to the airport website HA thank you!
I don’t know the shops well enough to say where, but I am sure you can find several vendors.

What is the US doing in Iran? what does the US want to do with Iran? i think its something about nuclear weapons. please i need this!
are we over there regulating? or giving them aid so they wont produce weapons? i need background info on why we are over there in the 1st place lol
One of the issues is the intelligence received concludes that Al Quaida has militia training camps in Iran
the song is real good, no doubt abt tht, but for an international TAMIL confernce, i expected something with a touch of our traditional south indian instruments and and a crisp tamil vocal… wat do u think
Ya realy its fine to hear.
On a international flight that has multiple stops and layovers, at what point do you have to go thur customs and recheck your baggage. Would be flying from Omaha to Denver to LA all on United Airlines but switch planes in Denver, then from LA to Korea to Malaysia on Asiana Air switching planes in Korea.
Customs and checked baggage are two completely different things. You will have to check your bag with United in Omaha, and they can do all the transfer work for you until you get to LA. In LA, since you are switching airlines, you will need to pick up your bag and check it with Asiana. Assuming you are flying all on Asiana within Asia, they can do the transfer work for you until you get to your final destination. When you arrive in Malaysia, you will most likely go through Malaysian Customs with simply your body and your carry on bag. (This is fairly easy). When you pass through customs, you can grab your checked bag at the baggage claim. On your way out of the airport they may ask to see your bag one more time – its no big deal, just let them see.
On your way back, you will need to check your bag with Asiana. When you arrive in LA, (I have traveled in/out of LA several times) you will be guided down to US Customs. Clear them, then go grab your bag. Again, they will probably ask to see your bag again. Then, go to United and check it with them. You can now travel freely within the US, so you can just grab your bag in Omaha, as long as your let United know you need it transferred to their other flight.
Hope this helps.
